November is here, and Truckee and North Lake Tahoe are making the transition from fall into winter! The golden aspens are giving way to snow-covered peaks, temperatures are dropping, and another ski season is right around the corner.

It's one of my favorite times of year in Tahoe. The summer crowds are long gone, the trails are quieter, and there's a sense of excitement as everyone prepares for winter.

Whether you're looking forward to getting back on the slopes, enjoying local events, or keeping an eye on the real estate market, here's what's happening around Truckee and North Lake Tahoe this November.

🎿 Ski Season Is Almost Here!

The countdown to ski season is on! Local resorts are gearing up for another winter, and opening days are just around the corner.

Here are the currently anticipated opening dates for the 2026–27 season:

• Mt. Rose Ski Tahoe — November 6

• Northstar California — November 20

• Boreal Mountain Resort — November 20

• Palisades Tahoe — November 25

• Sugar Bowl — November 27

• Tahoe Donner Cross Country — November 27

These are projected opening dates and are subject to change based on weather, snowfall, and resort conditions. Check directly with each resort before heading out.

Whether you're hoping to catch opening day or just enjoy a few more mountain bike rides and trail runs before the snow arrives, November is a great time to enjoy the changing seasons.

🎬 Ski Movie Premieres & Film Nights

Nothing gets you excited for ski season quite like a good ski movie! November brings several ski and snowboard film events to Truckee and North Lake Tahoe, making it a great opportunity to get together with the local mountain community.

• Salomon Quality Ski Time Film Tour | November 5 — Four short ski films at Tahoe Art Haus & Cinema in Tahoe City, starting at 8 PM.

• Dirt 'n' Flirt Ski Film Night | November 5 — A night of skiing and snowboarding films at Alibi Ale Works in Truckee, with proceeds supporting Sierra Avalanche Center.

• Girl Winter Film Tour | November 11 — A celebration of women's ski filmmaking at Tahoe Art Haus & Cinema in Tahoe City, with screenings at 4:45 PM and 8 PM.

• Freeride Film Tour | November 20 — New ski and snowboard films, giveaways, and a fun night at Alibi Ale Works in Truckee. Doors open at 7 PM, with films starting at 7:30 PM.

🏡 October Real Estate Market Update

As we head into November, the Truckee and North Lake Tahoe real estate markets are entering their quieter winter season. While activity typically slows this time of year, October's numbers show that buyers are still active, and there may be opportunities for those considering a purchase before winter.
